OPEN WIDE Frameset
The OPEN WI.DE. Frameset is born from the concept of navigating winding detours, engineered to tackle more extreme terrain than its predecessor while maintaining deceptively fast on-road performance. This frameset targets monster tires without compromising speed, using performance geometry and narrow Q-factor to keep riders efficient while the steering geometry maintains nimble handling. The WI.DE. conquers challenging trails while still delivering impressive capability on smoother roads, making it the ideal choice for cyclists seeking versatility across both rugged and smooth terrain.
Built upon the U.P.'s proven foundation with OPEN's TRCinTRS technology, the WI.DE. features revolutionary double-dropped chainstays on both sides that create an efficient box-shape behind the bottom bracket, increasing stiffness, reducing weight, and maximizing tire clearance. This design comfortably accepts up to 2.4" (61mm) tires in 650b or 46mm on 700c wheels without compromising geometry. The frame maintains the U.P.'s handling characteristics with 420mm chainstays for a road bike-like feel, while remarkably weighing exactly the same at 1040 grams for the frame and 390 grams for the fork.
Key updates enhance versatility and accessibility: a fourth cage mount under the bottom bracket provides extra gear-carrying capacity, a 1.5cm taller headtube improves handling, a slightly lower bottom bracket height increases stability, and a new XS size accommodates a wider range of riders. The front-derailleur-free frame design optimized for 1x drivetrains (or 2x using the Classified system) eliminates inner ring interference for maximum tire clearance, while the flat-out downtube with strategically placed ultra-high modulus carbon strips ensures exceptional stiffness connecting steering center to drivetrain.
Perfect for adventurous cyclists who refuse to choose between extreme capability and road speed, the WI.DE. features the U-Turn fork with Smart-Mount 160 technology for lighter, stiffer, safer brake setup, Wire-Stays for compliance with lateral stiffness, and comprehensive mounting options including toptube bag, saddle, handlebar, and frame bags for high-speed adventures on any terrain.
